Bach St Matthew Passion

2027 marks the 300th anniversary of the first performance of Bach’s masterpiece, the St Matthew Passion. Rarely performed in Northern Ireland, this monumental work will be brought to life by the acclaimed Ulster Consort, now entering its fifth season. The last documented performance of this work in Northern Ireland appears to date from 2001, and it has likely never been presented with period instruments or in an historically informed manner. This performance of the St Matthew Passion will offer local audiences their first opportunity to experience this profound and emotionally charged work in a soundscape close to what Bach would have known in 1727.
