A Tapestry for Greensleeves

Galliarda’s concert project `A Tapestry for Greensleeves’ celebrates the pioneering work of performers from the English Early Music Revival, spear-headed by Arnold Dolmetsch. We perform pieces written for the artists who initiated a new performance-style that broke with the nineteenth century mainstream and was exclusive to an earlier historical period, folk song and the English choral tradition.

Our concerts include works inspired by David Munrow and Alfred Deller, informed arrangements by Dolmetsch and Walter Bergmann, and an early work for wind pipes by Vaughan Williams. We perform compositions by Gordon Jacob, Alan Ridout, Edmund Rubbra, Gordon Jacob and Stephen Dodgson, who taught at the Royal College of Music.
