Baldassini Trio Sonatas

Ardour Baroque will make the world premiere recording of trio sonatas by the largely unknown Italian composer Antonio Luigi Baldassini (1649–1720), who published two collections in Rome in the 1690s. Placing his works in dialogue with sonatas by Corelli, Handel and other distinguished contemporaries will highlight Baldassini’s place within the vibrant musical culture of Baroque Rome and his distinctive contribution to Italian music at the close of the seventeenth century, while offering a fresh perspective on the diversity and creativity of the period.
