IRLANDIANI PLAYERS

The Smock Alley Scene

Image-empty-state.png
Irlandiani are a collective of players who use historical and traditional instruments to explore Italian and Irish musical connections in the 18th century, and who recreate this ethos of musical collaboration and exchange in their present-day performances. Formed by Carina Drury for her debut album recording in 2020, they have performed together in venues and festivals in London, Dublin and Cork.

This project will be a new CD recording, with a programme which focusses in on the vibrant musical life of 18th century Dublin.

The programme will include a set of six galant style cello duos written by the Neapolitan composer Tomasso Giordani, who moved to Dublin in 1763 to become musical director at the Smock Alley Theatre and who established a series of concerts at the Rotunda, and a solo harpsichord work by Thomas Roseingrave, an Irish composer who spent several years living in Venice.
