Oxford’s own period-instrument ensemble, Instruments of Time and Truth, will be running a 6-concert early chamber music series this summer in the spectacular surroundings of Christ Church Cathedral, with programmes including a Mozart string quintet and flute quartet, music from La Chapelle Royale at Versailles, Purcell’s Fantasias and Trio Sonatas, Bach’s Art of Fugue, and selections from the recently rediscovered Ballet des Porcelaines. Oxford in the summer is bustling with locals, as well as visitors from around the UK and across the world, but much of its musical scene falls silent. We are hoping to fill it with the joy of historical performance.
