The Consone Quartet will be touring with American colleagues Guy Fishman (cello) and Renée Hemsing (viola), performing a new commission by Gavin Bryars. The string sextet, entitled “The Bridges of Königsberg”, is inspired by the life of Immanuel Kant, and the mathematical “Seven Bridges” problem – how to devise a route through the City of Königsberg that would cross each of its seven bridges once and once only. The new work will be paired with Brahms’ beautiful sextet No. 2 in G major.
