The art of John Wilson: from Shakespeare’s Singing Boy to Oxford Professor
Our project celebrates the 350th anniversary of John Wilson’s death and brings together highlights of his musical output from his exceptionally long musical career, alongside those of some of his close associates, Lanier, Johnson, Hume, Jenkins and the Lawes brothers. Four concerts are planned to take place: Faversham (where he was born in 1595); Oxford – 2 concerts (where he became the Heather Professor of music in 1656); London (where Wilson worked in the theatre, Court, and Chapel Royal, and where he died). We will also make a recording of the project (Tremula) and a promotional video.
