Image-empty-state.png
The Ballroom Sessions is a series of two concerts of historical Scottish music performed in the 1797 ballroom of Sloan's Bar in Glasgow. Repertoire focuses variously on the musical circle of Scottish writer and entrepreneur Allan Ramsay (c. 1695-1758), dance music by Black British composer, writer and abolitionist Ignatius Sancho (c. 1729-1780) and fiddle music by Scottish female composers, including Catherine White (fl. 1800) and stage dancer Sophia Parker (fl. 1763-1818). Each concert is followed by an informal participatory session around the traditional items in the programmes.
