WESSEX BAROQUE COLLECTIVE

Continuing Voices

Image-empty-state.png
Wessex Baroque Collective celebrates women’s voices in Baroque music, combining works by Francesca Caccini, Barbara Strozzi, Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre and Isabella Leonarda with new commissions by Emma-Marie Kabanova and Yu Hng Ng. Performed in rural venues including Shaftesbury Arts Centre, South Somerset Music Centre and St Hubert’s Church, Wimborne, the tour brings professional period-instrument performance to rural communities. The ensemble — soprano Angela Hicks, violinist Emma-Marie Kabanova, cellist Christine Land, lutenist Matthew Nisbet and harpsichordist David Gostick — champions collaborative programming and aims to widen access to high-quality early music in the South West of England.
