SIRINU

Knights, Knaves, and Amorous Escapades

Image-empty-state.png
Our concert explores music before 1400 that celebrates such legendary characters as Robin, Marion, Tristan and Arthur, through a range of musical forms: including monophonic songs, carols, pastourelles, instrumental pieces, motets and ballades. Much of this music was composed for performance by the composers themselves; often in a public and competitive arena. Some of the legendary characters, like the composers themselves, were high born; but others were rustics or ruffians. We bring to life the rollicking interplay between the social classes, the sexes, and the urban folk and the rustics, in this panoply of medieval society.
