RAUTIO PIANO TRIO
Patronage: Martines to Beethoven’s Archduke

The Rautio Piano Trio will launch a new concert programme with three performances, alongside the completion of the final disc in their recording of Beethoven’s complete piano trios on period instruments. This final album, to be released on Resonus Classics in March 2027, marks the culmination of a four-disc project and coincides with the bicentenary of Beethoven’s death. The concert programme explores how chamber music was created and sustained in Enlightenment Vienna. Beethoven’s Archduke Trio reflects the aristocratic patronage of Archduke Rudolph, which enabled artistic ambition on a grand scale. In contrast, the music of Marianne Martines, celebrated in her lifetime but rarely performed today, represents a model rooted in salon culture, private patronage and domestic music-making. The concerts feature Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven and JC Bach, alongside newly created transcriptions of two keyboard sonatas by Martines and her only surviving Symphony in C.
