For this dance-around-the-world programme, Norwich Baroque is delighted to join forces with the Austrian ensemble, Neue Hofcapelle Graz, led by violinist Lucia Froihofer. At the core of the programme lies the juxtaposition of Jean-Féry Rebel’s 'Les caractères de la danse' with Lucia Froihofer’s counter-suite of Styrian folk dances, 'Charaktere der steirischen Tänze'. François Couperin's syncretistic 'Les Nations' and Jean-Philippe Rameau's westward-looking 'Les Sauvages' round out the picture, together with violinist Jim O'Toole's charismatic arrangements of folk tunes and early dance music from the British Isles.
