Title

ENGLISH HAYDN ORCHESTRA

Haydn's Musical World

Image-empty-state.png
Joseph Haydn’s music is profoundly human, balancing deep emotion with humour, surprise and clever musical jokes all contributing to its universal and enduring appeal. Haydn once famously stated, ‘my language is understood all over the world’. The Orchestra's concert series at the English Haydn Festival seeks to provide its audiences with an eighteenth century musical experience, with period instrument performances of Haydn and Beethoven symphonies, Boccherini's 2nd symphony (recently discovered by Pavel Serbin, soloist and principal cellist), and concertos by composers who lived in his musical world, such as J. C. Bach, Krommer and Vanhal.
