Basset Horn Trio

Image-empty-state.png
Bohemian basset horn players Dworschack, David and Springer performed over forty times at Vauxhall Gardens as concerto soloists in 1791. Before arriving in London, the trio toured Europe for ten years and met Mozart in Vienna. This recording, to be released on the renowned Deux-Elles label, celebrates the basset horn at the height of its popularity in the 1780s, showcasing its versatility in concertos, orchestral and chamber music.

Basset horn soloists Katherine Spencer, Sarah Thurlow and Fiona Mitchell are joined by bassoonist Chris Rawley, sopranos Grace Davidson and Julia Doyle, and bass-baritone Edward Grint. The Vauxhall Band is directed by violinist Matthew Truscott.
