Title
HIS MAJESTYS SAGBUTTS & CORNETTS
Echoes of Medieval Coventry

His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts will collaborate with the Binchois Consort to recreate music heard in the once-royal city of Coventry between the reigns of Henry VI and Henry VIII, including a showcase concert at Birmingham's Elgar Concert Hall. The programme will include rarely-heard gems including the fifteenth-century anonymous English Caput Mass (a fragment of which survives in a Coventry source), and Hugh Aston’s motet Gaude virgo mater Christi. Alongside the concert, HMSC will develop an outreach programme to include a family-focused recital, ‘Meet Coventry’s Waits’, to be performed in heritage venues in the city.
