ENSEMBLE AUGELLETTI

A Tune Among Friends

Image-empty-state.png
In the 17th and 18th centuries, social music-making in taverns and coffee houses created an invaluable space for ‘new’ and ‘old’ music to intertwine, and for music performed in the theatres or courts to disseminate across the UK and become part of the musical vernacular. In this series of informal performances held in pubs and cafes across the South East, Ensemble Augelletti explore chamber arrangements of theatre tunes alongside 18th century country dances and traditional tunes, inviting the audience to sing, and share a tune and a drink. With music in settings by Purcell, Corelli, Locke, Handel, Matteis and Geminiani.
