LUX MUSICAE LONDON

The Secrets of Andalusia

Image-empty-state.png
The origins of Flamenco are in shadow. Born in Andalusia in the south of the Iberian peninsula, its musical influences date back to Islamic Al-Andalus era between 8th and the 15th centuries. Mysteriously, the first mention of Flamenco is not until 1774. What happened in these intervening centuries?

Lux Musicae collaborate with Flamenco virtuoso Ignacio Lusardi and oud maestro Julian Harris to explore the music from which Flamenco burst forth.

Featuring Flamenco, Sephardic songs, Arabic music and Spanish composers from the 15th to 18th Centuries, this recording contains brave arias, devastating laments, wild dances and more.
