The Grand Tour is a unique programme for soprano, trumpet, violins and continuo inspired by Sir John Clerk of Penicuik’s Grand Tour through Europe in the 1690s and celebrating our strong cultural links with Europe over many centuries. This programme is based around music written by composers he met during his Grand Tour, some of whom he studied with; including the great Arcangelo Corelli’s passionate violin sonata La Follia,Clerk’s emotive cantata Leo Scotiae Irritatus and Rosenmüller’s ethereal concerto O Felicissimus Paradysi.

Susan Hamilton: “Music has always had the power to break down barriers. It is a language without prejudice.”
