BROOK STREET BAND

Heinrich Schütz – A German in Venice

Image-empty-state.png
To commemorate the 350th anniversary of Heinrich Schütz’s death, rising young tenor David de Winter and The Brook Street Band collaborate on an innovative recording project focussing on Schütz’s time in Venice in the late 1620s. The project explores the rich repertoire Schütz found there (including music by Monteverdi, Cavalli, Grandi and Sances) and its influence on his own work. We will record this sublime music for solo voice, violins, woodwind, and an enlarged continuo team including cello, theorbo, harpsichord and chamber organ, in Spring 2023, tied in with a concert in Norfolk.
