ENSEMBLE AUGELLETTI

The Library of a Prussian Princess

ENSEMBLE AUGELLETTI
Ensemble Augelletti’s recording project explores the chamber music collection curated by Anna Amalia, Princess of Prussia, Abbess of Quedlinburg (1723-1787). Anna Amalia’s passion for playing the keyboard, dedication to learning counterpoint and careful curation of 625 scores in an astonishing music library paint the musical portrait of a sophisticated and stylish musician, fascinated with the workings of musical line and texture.

This recording takes material from her personal collection including:
• Four of Anna Amalia’s own fugues
• Trio sonatas by Arcangelo Corelli, George Frederic Handel, Francesco Geminiani, Johann Gottlieb Graun
• Three sonatas by J.S. Bach
