Two concerts and a workshop at Medieval Music in the Dales, Castle Bolton, Yorkshire 9–10 September 2023, featuring late fifteenth century songs and their instrumental arrangements found in manuscript and early printed collections from Italy. Music by Johannes Martini, Alexander Agricola and Hayne van Ghizeghem and their contemporaries performed on a specially created set of viols based on a Bolognese painting by Lorenzo da Costa dating from 1497, just when the first viol consorts were being established.
