The Spohr collection of flutes is possibly one of the largest private collections of original flutes (numbering over 650) in existence. There are currently no sound recordings available that experimentally explore so many original instruments over such a period. Selecting the appropriate repertoire for this next cd included both temporal and geographical considerations, presenting music that could perhaps have been played on these particular instruments at the time of their manufacture. The recording will take place in Rotterdam in April as these precious original flutes (including a number made of solid ivory) cannot be safely brought into the UK.
