Jewels that brightly burn

Image-empty-state.png
When Bach died, Telemann wrote a sonnet for his friend: ‘Departed Bach! ‘So sleep! For never forgot shall be thy fame; The pupils thou hast schooled shall forge a crown of honor for thy name’. Describing Bach’s students as ‘jewels that brightly burn’, Telemann emphasised Bach’s skill in arranging music inspire and train a new generation of musicians. This CD recording explores the music that captured the imagination of Bach’s pupils in Leipzig and includes music by Locatelli and Pisendel alongside arrangements of Bach’s joyous instrumental music written for education purposes, and Telemann’s stunning ‘Paris’ quartets.
