Chelys Consort of Viols

Gibbons 400

Image-empty-state.png
In 1625 Orlando Gibbons, one of England’s finest composers, died. 400 years on we celebrate his monumental musical legacy with a festival in Oxford. Three concerts of sumptuous music for viols, voices and keyboard, evensong in St John’s College, and access to original manuscripts of Gibbons’ work in Christ Church library. We team up with St John’s College Director of Music, David Bannister, his own choir Vespri Segreti, organist Christian Wilson and the Viola da Gamba Society to celebrate all things Gibbons!
