PROJECT DESCRIPTION

We went ahead with our ‘Vermeer’ concerts at Kenwood House in November for a low fee. Both concerts sold out and the new manager and director of EH London were in the audience. They were very enthusiastic and supportive and have agreed to two more properly paid concerts in the house, this is a huge leap forward.
They have finally said ‘yes’ to using the 18th century organ which hasn’t been played since 2016 which is very exciting. They are arranging the tuning and small repairs to make this possible. Our two programmes will feature the organ the first being based on our Continuo funded concert last year at Kew Palace.
Kew Palace are also hosting this concert again for a proper fee as a private RHP donors event.
However we are very keen to re-establish the free concerts which both Kew Palace and Kenwood have agreed to organise, however they can only offer a very small fee (£800 total) We hope that continuo might like to sponsor these free, accessible events in these special venues.
1 Painted Ladies or other programme tbc- 2 x 30 min programmes - Summer at Kenwood
2 Organ concert 1 (short version) - 2 x 30 mins as a taster before the second ticketed organ programme at Kenwood, Autumn.
3 Organ concert 2 (short version) - 2 x 30 mins at Kew Palace. Autumn.

IMPACT OF GRANT

So far Continuo grants have enabled us to prove to these two fantastic historic venues that live music can be part of what they offer and can even make a profit for them. However we really want to offer free concerts that introduce new people, including children, to early music in the exciting historical context of these 18th century venues. This not only grows our London mailing list but will further demonstrate that live music can enhance the visitor experience in the heritage sector.
