PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In March 2026, Armonico Consort will launch its Spring/Summer season with three performances of J.S. Bach’s St Matthew Passion—a choral masterpiece of intense emotion and dramatic power. Our Artistic Director, Christopher Monks, describes it as a work that continues to reveal new depths with every performance.
This production will feature our critically acclaimed ensemble, joined by talented young singers from our AC Academy Scholarship programme, and a full baroque orchestra. Performances will take place at Malvern Theatres (24th March), St Mary’s Church Warwick (26th March), and Wells Cathedral (27th March), with expected audiences of 500, 350, and 500 respectively.
We have strong followings in Warwick and Malvern and are steadily building audiences in Wells. To ensure accessibility, we aim to keep ticket prices low while widening our reach through our established education and community initiatives. These include bespoke marketing and offers to engage families of our AC Academy singers and expanding our membership programme to deepen relationships with regular supporters.

IMPACT OF GRANT
A grant would significantly enhance the quality, reach, and accessibility of our St Matthew Passion performances. It would help cover essential costs such as artist fees, venue hire, and production logistics, allowing us to keep ticket prices affordable and attract a broad, diverse audience. It would also support the participation of young singers from our AC Academy Scholarship programme, giving them invaluable experience performing a major work alongside professional musicians.
